An Accessible Community-Based Program
For Children, Youth & Families
The program is open to children and youth ages 6 to 22, and families, involved with the Ministry of Children’s Services.
The program is funded by the Ministry of Children’s Services. There are no costs for participants.
We aim to improve family functioning, safety, well-being and connection.
Referrals are accepted from the Ministry of Children’s Services.
What to Expect
Brooks Collaborative Services partners with cultural resources and agencies to ensure services are culturally informed and that children, youth, and families have access to culturally appropriate resources and expertise. Services provided include:
In-Home Family Support
The primary goal of In-Home Family Support is to bring children back to their families through education, support, advocacy, skill building, behaviour modeling, and community collaboration.
Family Coaches help participants develop individual, impactful, and realistic goals and then help them achieve each one.
Child and Youth Work
The overall goal of Child and Youth Work is to help children and youth develop new skills and improve their wellbeing to assist in everyday life. We focus on building trust, self-esteem, and appropriate relationship skills.
We also create opportunities for improved personal management skills such as appropriate coping, anger management and impulse control, positive peer and family relationship skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills, dealing with rejection and personal hygiene.
Supervised Family Time
The overall goal for family visits is to ensure the children are safe emotionally, mentally, and physically. In addition to supervision, the program provides a safe environment for families to be together and maintain connection as well as toys and games for families to play with. If necessary, transportation of children and youth to and from visitation is provided.
How to Access the Program
Brooks Collaborative Services is a closed-referral program. The program is accessed through Children’s Services.
Exit from the program occurs when the youth or family’s agreement with Children’s Services has expired or when their goals have been successfully achieved.
Services are available in Brooks and the surrounding areas including Duchess, Rosemary, Tilley, Rolling Hills, Rainer, Bassano, Cessford, Pollockville, County of Newell and Scandia.
McMan's core values of commitment, trust, respect, empathy, and genuineness are ingrained in each portion of service delivery.
